Chapter Twenty Two

“...wow,” was all James could comment once he listened to what his senior had gone through. It had indeed been a hundred days since his senior had left this world. And sadly, he’d gotten no other customers during that duration. But his senior had called him on the hundredth day before James could do so.

“Yeah, junior. Truly, wow. After that, I used my soul energy to soothe her symptoms and heal her a bit and also used it to show her a vision of sorts about you, of my memories. That seemed to convince her I was telling the truth. On that note, lend me one hundred and fifty years of lifespan.”

“Why?” James couldn’t help but ask.

“One hundred to heal your sister fully and fifty for any needs that come up. Though, man, I really wish the inter-world barriers didn’t exist. I’m really tempted to drop her off with you or at least make her call you and talk to you directly to reassure her more, especially after what happened. Your sister is scary, dude.”

James chuckled nervously. He understood and sympathized with both parties in what had happened. He naturally understood his sister’s reaction and thought it made sense, but he could also see why Archaniel was scared of her now.

“But yeah. Leave it to me, and do your job peacefully. You’ll get more customers eventually. They show up every now and then every few years, mostly.”

“Yeah, thanks, senior.” James couldn’t help but smile at Archaniel’s words. Truly, he was lucky he’d gotten Archaniel as his senior and not someone else.

—

Ivy looked down at her hands—her no longer bony hands—and looked at the man. Her body didn’t hurt, and even her eyesight was sharp. So impossibly sharp. And all of it was because of this strange man… This strange man who claimed he was sent by her brother.

Ivy believed him by now. There was no way he would do this for her, help her, heal her fully, if he wasn’t sent by her brother. The man had told her that even the energy he was using to heal her was given to him by her brother, and that thought made her sob.

Her brother, even though he’d died, had found a way to help her. Even after passing away, being killed, getting the opportunity to move on, he didn’t forget her… Instead, he sent his coworker, his friend, to help her. And soon, she could meet him too. Until then, this man who called himself Archaniel, would help her.

She sobbed harder, bawled harder than she ever did before, and the man looked confused, like he didn’t know what to do.

Eventually, he approached her, patted her shoulder gently as she cried, and muttered, “It’s okay. You’re okay. It’s fine. It’s all fine.”

Ivy hugged him, not something she would have done if she wasn’t an emotional wreck, and the man was caught even further off guard as he twitched, his body stiffening. But then, after a few seconds, he rubbed her back gently, saying the same platitudes over and over again.
